Happy New Year from Miss Eccles and Primary 6!

We would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year and good luck in 2018. As a class, we have been discussing the importance of making resolutions and setting ourselves manageable targets for the year ahead. We made New Years resolutions and we are really hoping to achieve some of our personal targets by the end of this year. Each Friday this term we will be thinking of things that we have been grateful for and creating a large display, if you have anything you want to share please feel free to leave us a comment :)

It is going to another very busy term in Primary 6 with lots of new skills being developed and exciting knowledge being shared.

We have recently started a new topic in which we are going to be comparing several aspects of Scotland and France. We will be exploring the landscape, culture and geographical locations of these counties whilst further developing our knowledge of the French language.

We have all been working extremely hard to learn our Burns poem and are enjoying being able to share these in front of the class. We had a very hard decision when selecting 3 finalists who will take part in our Burns competition of Thursday morning. The winner will recite the poem at assembly on Friday morning.   We have explored some Scots vocabulary and have even had a go at writing some of our own poems.

In literacy, we have started a new novel called 'KrindleKrax'. We have been studying the characters and making prediction about we think might happen next. We have been exploring what we think Krindlekrax might look like and have created a display of the novel setting 'Lizard Street'.

In Maths this term we have been developing our knowledge of measure. We have explored measuring length and are going to be looking at weight, volume and capacity.

I physical Education this term we have been developing our skills in gymnastics. We have been working with groups and partners to incorporate balance and rolls into a routine. Here are just a few of the fantastic positions that we have come up with.

We are looking forward to experimenting more with the equipment.

As you can see the first few weeks back to school have been extremely busy for us and this will continue. We will keep you updated throughout the term so keep checking.

Primary 6 and Miss Eccles  :)
