It's the final countdown!

So far, it has been an extremely busy final term in Primary 6.

In literacy this term, we have been exploring the novel 'Kensuke's Kingdom' by Micheal Monpurgo. We have been finding out all about the interesting places that Micheal and his family visited on their journey around the world and have been using our reciprocal reading strategies to further explore the novel.  We created some beautiful artwork, using the front cover of the novel as a stimulus and have designed alternative front covers using the knowledge that we have of the text.

In Numeracy, we have been working on data handling and the ways in which we can display and intemperate data. We have created Pie charts and bar graphs  and have looked at the data that we have collected. We have also been expanding our knowledge of time. This can be really tricky and Primary 6 would really appreciate some help at home. We have been estimating what we can do in various lengths of time, converting time and solving problems related to time. Which has been VERY hard work.

In RME we have explored Buddhism and the teachings of the Buddha. We discussed the important symbols in Buddhism and created some beautiful water colour lotus flowers and our own Buddha statues. We hope that this brings some peace and tranquility to our classroom for the remainder of Primary 6.

We have a jam packed 4 weeks ahead of us before the summer holidays and we are looking forward to all of the hard work that this will involve.
